NEW! PianoLITE Classes
  • 30-minute small group lessons (2-4 students) designed for beginners only.
  • Age-specific methods designed to be appropriate for your child's learning abilities
  • Perfect for those who want to try out piano lessons and aren't sure of their child's interest.
  • A variety of curriculum designed specifically for ages four through twelve.
  • Classes on Saturday mornings 10am through noon beginning January 2008.
  • Uses the same materials and exceptional instructors as other beginning classes however proceeds at a slower pace due to less weekly time commitment.

  • Private Lessons
  • All ages and levels - specifcally designed for more advanced students regardless of age.
  • Incorporates more intensive technical and theoretical materials as well as repertoire
  • Open to adults of any level
  • Lessons provided on grand piano.
  • Weekly 30min, 45min or 1 hour lessons available

  • Accelerated Piano Class
  • Beginning through late elementary level repertoire in a small class environment.
  • The Accelerated I condenses Primer (absolute beginning) through the middle of Level 2A while Accelerated II combines the latter half of Level 2A, 3A and 3B into a single accelerated volume.
  • Prepares students for intermediate Levels 4 & 5.
  • Enrollment in this class is by appropriate age or audition.
  • Perfect for the "older" beginner - age 8 and above.

  • Piano Classes
  • Beginning through late intermediate level repertoire in a small class environment
  • Diverse curriculum covers repertoire, technique development, ear-training, sight-reading and music theory.
  • Introduction of musical and technical concepts (rhythmic, melodic and harmonic awareness).
  • Basic theory concepts presented in entertaining and educational formats.
  • 4 students (maximum), each on a state-of-the-art Roland KR-105 digital piano.
  • Weekly, one-hour classes.

  • Music for Little Mozarts
    Music for Little Mozarts was written to provide appropriate piano instruction for four to six-year olds while simultaneously developing listening skills. The series was designed to provide a balance between the discipline necessary for playing the instrument and the enjoyment one gets from the process of music-making while catering to their energy level. The course centers around the story of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse as they learn about music.

    Classes are one hour and meet weekly.

    Private Piano Lessons
    Private piano lessons are offered to those students who have graduated level 5 of the academy's curriculum or to those who have tested into private lessons via audition. There are other special cases in which private lessons are a good fit. Our private lesson instructors in piano hold the minimum of a Masters Degree in Piano Performance or the equivalent performance and teaching experience. Acoustic pianos are available for private lessons. 30, 45 & 60 minute classes are available and meet weekly.


    Adult Group Piano
    Adult Piano classes offer beginning and intermediate learners a curriculum created specially for adults. Among the areas covered are technique, theory, repertoire expansion, historical and stylistic practices and music theory. The course will use Alfred's Group Piano for Adults book I and book II as its main textbooks but will also incorporate other materials as well. A three-ring binder is also required.

    Theory/Comprehensive Musicianship
    Covers music theory from preparatory to "advanced" level theory.1 This course is designed to prepare students for their annual Certificate of Merit exams in February/March. Text and materials will depend on student's current theory knowledge. Admittance to this class is by through instructor recommendation. All CM students must be enrolled in the current year Certificate of Merit program by a MTAC member instructor. These classes will include but are not limited to:
  • All aspects of music theory with emphasis on keyboard theory
  • Ear-Training
  • Sight-singing
  • Dictation
  • Music History and introduction to performance practices of various periods.
    Class size limited to six students. Required text: Basics of Keyboard Theory - Julie Johnson or Fundamentals of Piano Theory, Snell/Ashleigh, KJOS publications. These are usually kept in stock and are available for purchase. Classes meet weekly and are 1-hour.

  • AP Music Theory Exam Preparation
    This course is designed to prepare high school students for the College Board's Advance Placement Music Theory Exam offered every year in May. No local high schools offer a preparatory class for this exam.
  • Designed for students who want to pursue music as a major or minor in college or simply gain college credit while still in high school.
  • Test preparation includes an in depth study of all aspects of first year college-level music theory, ear-training and dictation.
  • Class size limited to six students.
  • Classes are one hour weekly
  • Required text: Music in Theory & Practice, Beward & Saker, published by McGraw-Hill

  • Beginning through advanced Guitar
    Our guitar lessons are jammin'! Private and small group guitar lessons allow students to express their musical side and create their own direction while developing a solid musical foundation in a wide variety of styles such as blues, jazz, rock and classical. Lessons in acoustic or electric guitar are available for children and adults. Don't have your own guitar? No problem with our rental program. Please call for details.

    Voice
    The academy offers world-class instruction in all styles of voice; classical (beginning through advanced), pop, belt, Broadway, jazz and more are all covered by teachers with years of stage and recording experience. See our instructors page for more details.

    Woodwinds
    Come to the academy to begin or sharpen your sax, clarinet or other woodwind playing skills with some of the best teachers and performers in the area. Check our instructors page for more details!. Call for current schedule and class availability.

    Strings - Violin, Viola and Cello

    Strings are playing an exciting role at the academy. With experienced instructors in violin, viola and cello, learning and fulfilling one's potential is a reality. Generally, lessons are provided in 30-minute private or 60-minute ensemble classes. Call for current schedule and class availability. Rental instruments are available through the academy.
